The launch of the Helios Education Foundation’s program to help retain and develop new and beginning Science and Math teachers will be held at:

Sligh Middle School, Hillsborough County Public Schools
2011 East Sligh Avenue, Tampa, Florida  33610

The Helios Education Foundation program will be implemented by the Council for Educational Change in cooperation with Hillsborough County Schools and 10 participating middle and high schools.

The grant program will help:

  • Retain novice teachers in the profession
  • Develop expert Science and Math Teachers
  • Improve student’s Science and Math knowledge and skills through effective instruction

Currently there is a national spotlight on the critical need for more and better prepared students to pursue careers in fields requiring high level Science and Math skills.  To remain globally competitive, we must develop and retain highly qualified teachers who will prepare and inspire their students for higher studies and professions in these allied fields.

That is why the Helios Education Foundation, the Council for Educational Change and the Hillsborough School District are partnering on this initiative.

Helios Education Foundation is the largest philanthropic organization serving Arizona and Florida focused solely on education. The Foundation is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals in Arizona and Florida by creating opportunities for success in postsecondary education and its community investments are made across three impact areas: Early Childhood Education, the Transition Years (grades 5-12) and Postsecondary Education. Since inception in 2004, Helios Education Foundation has invested over $62 million into education-related programs and initiatives in both states.
